Is this an insurance plan?

No, Careington's discount programs are not insurance plans. The discount programs provide members with discounted prices on a wide range of health care services and products. Members pay the pre-negotiated, discounted price at the time services are received.

How do the plans work?

Saving money on health care expenses is easy with Careington's discount plans. First, members can "FIND A PARTICIPATING PROVIDER" on this site or call (800) 441-0380 ext. 2915. After confirming the provider's continued participation when making an appointment, the member shows their membership card at the time of service. Members are responsible for paying all discounted fees directly to the provider.

Is there any waiting or limits on use?

Careington's dental plans are available for immediate use, including major services such as crowns and root canals. There are also no limits on how much you can use the plan. The more you utilize it, the more you will save.

How does Careington get these discounts?

Careington has secured these valuable savings by working with some of the largest and most well-known providers of health care services in the nation.

Can a member include dependents in the plan?

Yes, one of the wonderful features of Careington's plans is that we have family rates available for the entire household to receive the savings, even children living at college!

Can members use the discount plans even if they already have insurance?

Yes, as long as their insurance plan isn't a PPO, HMO, or another discount plan. Members just need to go to a participating provider, show their membership card, pay the discounted fees at the time of service and ask for a copy of the bill. Then, they file the claim with the insurance company to be reimbursed by them. This reduces the members' out-of-pocket expenses and stretches their dollar so they reach their maximums more slowly. Members may also use the discount programs for services not covered by their insurance plan. For example, many people have medical insurance, but do not have dental and vision coverage. Please remember that the Careington discount programs are not insurance and may offer discounts on many services not included in traditional indemnity plans.

What providers can members go to?

Members can find participating providers for the plans by visiting the "FIND A PROVIDER" page or by calling (800) 441-0380 and pressing option 1, then option 1 again.

Can members go to a provider that is not in Careington's network?

Members may go to the provider of their choice; however, they will only receive a discount by going to a participating provider.

If a member's doctor or dentist provides a referral to a specialist who is not in the network, does the member still get a discount?

The member will only receive a discount by going to a participating provider. Members may share a list of participating providers with the provider or dentist to see if they could recommend any of the participating specialist locations.

There is no provider close to a member's home. What should the member do?

While some zip code areas may have a limited number of providers, there are usually providers within a 50-mile radius of a zip code. Members can refer a dentist for participation in the network by "NOMINATING A DENTIST." The program administrator will contact the provider with information on how to apply to participate in the program. Because of the application and credentialing process, it may take 60-90 days before a provider is added to the network. Not all providers will agree to accept the discounted fees required by the program.

Once a member selects a provider, are they assigned to that provider? How often can a member change providers?

Another great feature of Careington's plans is a member's ability to select any provider from the network. A member can change providers at any time, and household members can select their own providers. Call Member Services at (800) 290-0523 for help finding participating providers, or visit the "FIND A PROVIDER" page.

What should a member say when calling a provider to check on participation?

The providers will recognize the name of the network with which they participate, so when a member calls, it is important to use the name of the correct network.

What should members do if they feel they were overcharged by a provider?

The member should send a copy of the bill and a written letter to Careington International Corporation, Attn: Provider Relations, P.O. Box 2568, Frisco, TX 75034. The inquiry will be investigated, and the member will be contacted regarding the findings.

What should members do if they have a complaint about a provider?

The member needs to submit all issues in writing, including a copy of the bill.

Can membership cards be used when traveling?

Yes, membership cards can be used at any participating provider in the United States. All members need is their member ID number to receive their savings.

Do you have a national network of providers?

Yes, our participating providers are available nationwide.

Do Careington's plans have to be implemented with open enrollment?

No, that's a great advantage to Careington's plans! Our plans can be added to your offerings at any point throughout the year.

Do I have to set these plans up with my broker?

No, they don't have to be set up with your broker. These plans can be set up directly with Careington, including payment methods such as payroll deduct and self-pay.

Are there different rates if Careington's plans are employer-paid?

How long will this process take to implement?
